Please note that various types of educational programs and courses (and their certificates) are not able to be validated. An applicant may not be given the status of student until validation has been secured.

Nostrification is not required for students from Germany, Slovakia, Slovenia, Poland, Hungary.

For more information regarding the nostrification (formal recognition) of foreign education in the Czech Republic, and long-term study visas to the Czech Republic, please visit our PRACTICAL INFORMATION page.

Foreigners.cz and PEXPATS are both agencies which assist foreign students to complete this statewide validation processes.

Apply for admission
  • Fill in the Application Form
  • Send the Application form, your CV, motivation letter, high school diploma, and a valid passport / identity card (for EU citizens) to ifs@filmovka.cz

All applicants must have their relevant previous studies verified as a requirement for higher education studies in the Czech Republic – a high school diploma for applicants to a Bachelor Degree Program or a Bachelor’s degree for applicants to the Master Degree Program. This process is called ‘Nostrification’.

If an applicant does not have nostrification documentation issued by the Czech authorities, FAMO may validate previous studies internally. To do so, applicants must hand-over physically or send (via post) one of the following before their study program begins – scans will not suffice:
    – A verified copy (issued by a notary or at a Czech Point in the Czech Republic) of the relevant previous diploma. This must be translated to English or Czech by an official translator in the Czech Republic.
    – The original diploma with translation (brought physically to the school to be copied at FAMO.
*Where applicants hold a diploma issued in a language other than Czech or English, it is necessary for this document to be accompanied by an apostille.

A scan of the applicant’s high school diploma / Bachelor’s diploma will suffice for the purpose of application until such time as the physical documentation is possible to send via post or submit physically to administrate staff at FAMO. This must be done before a student can begin their study program and receive student status.

  • Applicants for the Master Degree Programme should send also samples of their previous artistic work

Note:
In the event of an insufficient number of applicants, The Film Academy of Miroslav Ondříček reserves the right to postpone or cancel its courses. Any fees already paid will be returned in full to applicants.

PRIOR TO FORMAL ACCEPTANCE

  • Applicants must participate in a Zoom, or similar, video conference call, to ascertain that the applicant’s English language level is at the required B2 level. This conversation will be held with an English native speaker.
  • Before a formal confirmation to studies document can be issued by the school a deposit amounting to 50% of the first semester tuition fee installment must be paid. This is necessary to establish the sincersity of the application and satisfy the relevant state authorities responsible for issuing a visa. This deposit will be held by the school and will be put towards the student’s first semester tuition fees.
  • Once the applicant’s adequate language skills have been established, and deposit has been paid, the school will issue a formal Confirmation of Studies document and assist (where necessary) in finding short-term accomodation for the applicant in Pisek (along with organizing the formal Confirmation of Accomodation document). Both of these documents are requirements in any student visa application.
