Recognition of academic qualifications

If you’d like to continue your studies with us in the Czech Republic it is necessary to obtain official documentation (nostrification) validating that your previously completed education, holds the same value as that provided in the Czech Republic. The process of recognition differs according to the level of education which you need to have recognized. If you’d like to study in our Bachelor’s Degree program, then you will have to have your high school studies formally verified (nostrified). For applicants to our Master’s Degree program, you will have to have your previous Bachelor’s diploma verified.

Nostrification documentation must be received by the school before their study program at FAMO begins, without which an applicant cannot receive the status of student. We strongly recommend that applicants apply for validation through the relevant Czech authorities (the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports). This validation is recognized statewide.

If a student does not seek statewide validation FAMO is able to verify previous studies internally. This is only valid for FAMO itself. To do so, applicants must hand-over physically or send (via registered post) one of the following before their study program begins – scans will not suffice:
– A verified copy (issued by a notary or at a Czech Point in the Czech Republic) of the relevant previous diploma (whether high school or university issued). This document must be translated to Czech or English by an official translator in the Czech Republic (if it was not issued in either of these languages).
– The original diploma accommpanied by an official translation to Czech or English (if the document was not issued in either of these languages). A copy of the document will be made on site at FAMO by school administrators.
*Where applicants hold a diploma issued in a language other than Czech or English, it is necessary for this document to be accompanied by an apostille.

*A scan of the applicant’s high school diploma / Bachelor degree diploma will suffice for the purpose of application until such time as the physical documentation is possible to send / submit to administrate staff at FAMO. This must be done before a student can begin their study program.
