In 2001 Jana graduated from the Film Academy of Miroslav Ondříček in Písek. After less than two years, she left for the United States of America, where she later continued her studies at the University of San Francisco. She studied photography and later photojournalism. On her travels, mainly in Africa and Asia, she often collaborates with non-profit organizations and documents their projects and humanitarian activities, currently mostly in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
During her past projects, she has visited Bangladesh, Guatemala, Malta, Mexico, Nepal, Puerto Rico, Rwanda, Uganda, and many more countries. In her reports, which she works on independently, she then focuses on social issues, especially issues related to minorities and women.
She regularly photographs projects in the Czech Republic, mainly in the region of South Bohemia, where she comes from. She publishes her reports at home and abroad, among other things, she takes photos for the Reuters agency and others. In the Czech Republic, she regularly collaborates with the magazine Lidé a Země.
She continues to regularly post and update her socials on her current projects.
